Director of Marketing
Simi Valley, CA - March 19, 2007 - Topaz Systems, Inc., a global leader in electronic signature technology announced today that it has been granted a new U.S. Patent for electronic signature authentication by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
This newest member of the Topaz® e-Sign patent portfolio, U.S. patent number 7,190,815 - "Method for Authenticating an Electronic Signature" is a key patent in this field because it enables the broad and fundamental use of existing paper signature exemplars in the process of electronic signature authentication. Together with Topaz U.S. Patents 6,307,955, 6,972,754, 7,123,143, D532,009, and other pending applications, this new patent further demonstrates Topaz leadership position in electronic signature technology. By holding electronic signatures accountable to their paper counterparts for the purpose of authentication, Topaz customers gain the value of knowing that their electronically signed documents meet both the letter, and the spirit of the law.
"It is one thing to claim all of the technology elements necessary to produce legally-binding electronic signatures, but quite another to own all of the technology, IP, and patents to actually achieve this". said Anthony Zank, President and CEO of Topaz. "Topaz is unique in providing the complete electronic signature products, software tools, IP, and patents to enable electronic signatures to be legally binding, with our customers realizing both the immediate and long-term benefits."
